Investigations: Special Investigations: Dog Searches
Dog searches can be an effective detection and deterrence tool.
Dogs can be used independently or in combination with other investigations,
such as undercover or surveillance operations. NASS provides experienced
handlers and specifically-trained, non-aggressive dogs to detect
drugs, alcohol, and explosives in businesses, schools, and government
facilities.
Dog searches are very visible, usually arousing interest and commanding
attention. Used correctly, search dogs make a dramatic impact and
a clear, "zero-tolerance" statement. Based on your policies, NASS
professionals can help you plan and prepare for the most effective
use of dog searches. Then, NASS will respond promptly and dispatch
dog teams to your location to search lockers, parking areas, storage
spaces, offices, classrooms, and common-use areas for the presence
of illegal or unauthorized substances and/or devices.
