Consulting: High Risk Terminations
Human resource and personnel managers often encounter incidents
where an employee must be terminated, and there is reason to believe
the employee may react violently. It is important to take proper
steps to minimize the danger to yourself or other employees. Prior
to the termination, NASS professionals are available to consult
with you and to respond to your facility to assist with the termination
process, acting as your corporate security department. By limiting
the involvement of your management team, the focus of the terminated
employee's anger is directed toward NASS personnel instead of company
personnel. In all cases where threats of violence have been made,
a thorough investigation should be conducted. In more than 90% of
workplace violence incidents, the perpetrator told acquaintances
he/she was going to commit the act.
