Michael P. Spencer
President and CEO
Michael
Spencer is the Chief Executive Officer of North American Security
Solutions, Inc. (NASS).
Prior to establishing NASS in 1997, Mr. Spencer became recognized
as a prominent figure in the private-sector investigations industry.
During this time, he served as Vice President of a Dayton, Ohio
corporation that specialized in undercover drug investigations inside
the workplace. In this role, he was in charge of the Operations
Division, directing the day-to-day activities of all undercover
investigations. Mr. Spencer also developed an innovative, cost-effective
approach for investigating fraudulent workers' compensation claims.
Mr. Spencer conducted on-site assessments of 30 truckstops in a
22-state area for a major oil corporation. As a result of these
assessments, he designed and instituted a training program for the
truckstop industry. The program trains truckstop management personnel
to deal with drug problems, prostitution, and employee theft. It
also gives employers techniques for effective hiring practices.
Mr. Spencer was retained by CBS as a consultant for Eye
to Eye with Connie Chung and appeared in a network television
segment covering the Department of Transportation's drug testing
policy.
From 1977 to 1989, Mr. Spencer served as a police officer with
the Dayton, Ohio, police department. Mr. Spencer worked on an undercover
drug task force from 1979 to 1981. During this period, he prepared
and participated in the execution of more than 200 search warrants,
resulting in over 300 felony drug arrests.
From 1986 to 1989, Mr. Spencer was assigned to a uniformed drug
task force, focusing on the crack-cocaine problem in west Dayton's
residential areas. He was personally responsible for developing
strategies used by the unit to curtail street-related drug offenses.
The unit was responsible for some of the largest cocaine seizures
in the history of the department. Mr. Spencer's expertise in the
preparation and execution of over 200 search warrants significantly
impacted the community's drug problem. The unit was responsible
for more than 2000 felony drug arrests during the three-year period.
The task force received the department's Unit Citation Award in
1987 and 1988, for outstanding performance in the area of drug enforcement.
Beginning in 1970, Mr. Spencer served honorably in the United States
Marine Corps, where he was promoted meritoriously up through the
ranks to Sergeant. During his service, he received numerous merit
awards for outstanding achievement and extraordinary contribution
to the Marine Corp mission. He was hand selected to represent the
Marines as a recruiter and excelled in that capacity until his separation
from the military in 1977.
Mr. Spencer's expertise in the area of drug enforcement has been
recognized with numerous letters of commendation from supervisors,
citizens, and various community organizations.
